Membership:

Membership is open to universities and research institutions that possess and conduct professional education in museology. Eligible institutions and organizations should apply to The International Alliance for Teaching Museology in University (IATMU) by submitting a membership application form. The IATMU does not offer membership or positions to any individuals (including employees) or entities engaged in the commercial trade of cultural property for profit, including artworks, natural history specimens, and scientific collections.

 

Termination of Membership:

Members of the IATMU may voluntarily withdraw by submitting a written resignation. Additionally, the Secretariat of the Alliance may terminate membership under the following circumstances: 

1. Violation of ethical standards in professional museology education.

2. Engagement in activities significantly inconsistent with the objectives of the IATMU.

 

Member Benefits:

1. Participation in key initiatives and regular activities of the Alliance:

（1）Annual Symposium: The Alliance organizes an annual symposium, hosted in rotation by member institutions, providing a platform for scholars and professionals to present research and share practical experiences.

（2）Digital Platform: An online platform facilitates continuous dialogue, resource sharing, and collaboration among members.

（3）Joint Publications and Research Projects: The Alliance encourages and supports collaborative publications and research projects that advance the field of museology and museum studies.

（4）Exchange Programs: Student and faculty exchange programs among member institutions to enhance talent development and professional expertise.

2. Oversight and Inquiry

Members have the right to supervise and inquire about the Alliance’s operations, and may submit opinions and suggestions.
