About the Museum

The Zhejiang University Museum of Art and Archaeology (ZJUMAA) was co-initiated in 2009 by Zhejiang University and the world-renowned Chinese art historian Professor Wen C. Fong. It opened to the public on 8 September 2019 and was designated a National First-Class Museum in 2024.

Located at the southwestern end of Zhejiang University’s Zijingang Campus, the Museum occupies a land area of 50 mu (approximately 3.33 hectares), with a total floor area of 25,000 square meters, including 3,500 square meters of gallery space. The building was designed by New York–based Gluckman Tang Architects.

The ground floor features four galleries of varying sizes and functions, along with collection storage, a conservation showroom, and an auditorium—together serving as integrated spaces for collection, exhibition, conservation, and education. Academic facilities occupy the second to fourth floors, including the Wen C. and Constance Fong Library, classrooms for art history majors, and studios and offices for scholars. The Museum also offers a shop, a café, and other visitor amenities.
